How does it work?

Our doctor-led medical weight loss programme uses clinically proven medications such as Wegovy and Mounjaro alongside tailored lifestyle guidance. These are injectable medications that help regulate appetite and blood sugar by mimicking natural gut hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). They work by reducing hunger, increasing feelings of fullness, and helping control cravings. This holistic approach supports safe, sustainable results.  Ideal for patients looking for expert-supervised weight management in Northern Ireland.

Concerns it can treat

Hormonal Weight

Caused by an imbalance of hormones that regulate metabolism and fat storage.

Stubborn Weight

Weight that is difficult to lose despite regular exercise and healthy eating.

Health Concerns

Weight-related health conditions.

FAQs

Medically supervised weight loss offers more than just cosmetic results. When combined with healthier eating and increased activity, patients may experience a wide range of health benefits, including:

  • Reduced risk of type 2 diabetes and improved blood sugar control.
  • Lowered risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.
  • Improved cholesterol levels.
  • Reduced risk of certain cancers associated with obesity.
  • Easier movement and improved joint health, helping with daily activities and exercise.

They are prescribed following a full medical assessment, including your medical history, current medications, and lifestyle. They are not suitable for everyone, and careful screening is essential to ensure safety.

These medications are only suitable privately for two types of patients:

  1. Have a BMI over 30 (and therefore their health is at risk due to this excess body weight and fat).
  2. Have a BMI of 27-29.9 AND a health issue associated with excess weight, such as: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, PCOS, joint pains or arthritis, pre-diabetes, sleep apnoea etc.

As well as being a current medical doctor in the NHS, Dr Victoria has extensive experience in diabetes and endocrinology, with experience prescribing and managing these medications. As a high experienced medical doctor, she is able to identify, manage, and treat potential complications or side effects, adjust dosing appropriately, prescribe additional medications if required, and offer medical solutions to improve tolerance. the identification and management of potential side-effects is not something all doctors may be comfortable with, and is outside the experience of most nurses and pharmacists. It is important to think carefully about who is prescribing and monitoring your treatment.

Face-to-face reviews to spot any potential issues or side effects early are essential to ensure your safety. Seeing a patient in person allows the doctor to notice subtle changes or concerns. It is also important to see your practitioner in person so they can ensure you aren’t losing muscle rather than fat, check your blood pressure and adjust medications you are on if needed, and physically examine you.

Regular in-person reviews with Dr Victoria ensure that your treatment is working effectively and safely. For a very small minority of patients, the medication may not produce the desired results. In such cases, Dr Victoria can advise on stopping the treatment so you are not spending money on something that isn’t working, and discuss alternative strategies to support your weight-loss goals.

The injections are given once weekly using a very fine needle. Most patients describe them as quick and only mildly uncomfortable, if noticeable at all. You will be shown exactly how to administer the injection safely and confidently at home. Your first dose will be given in clinic under Dr. Victoria’s supervision.

The most common side effects are nausea, reduced appetite, bloating, constipation, or diarrhoea, particularly when starting treatment or increasing the dose. These symptoms are usually temporary and manageable. Dr Victoria can advise on dose adjustments, dietary strategies, and additional treatments if side effects occur. Serious side effects are uncommon but will be discussed during your consultation.

Medical uses of botox include to help reduce excess sweating under the arms, to reduce the strength of the masseter muscles which helps reduce jaw tension and teeth grinding and clenching. It more recently has been found to be very helpful for hay-fever sufferers as treatment in March or April time can minimise the nasal symptoms associated with this debilitating condition.

No. These medications are an aid, not a replacement. For safe, sustainable weight loss, they must be used alongside healthier eating, increased movement, and lifestyle changes. Patients who view treatment as a tool rather than a shortcut tend to achieve the best long-term results.

Hair loss is not a common side effect of these medications. However, rapid weight loss, from any cause, can sometimes trigger temporary hair shedding in a small number of patients. This is usually short-term and reversible once the body adjusts.

This is another reason why face-to-face reviews with Dr Victoria are important. During your consultations, she can monitor for any signs of hair thinning, advise on adjustments if needed, and provide guidance on dietary strategies. A diet rich in protein and essential nutrients often helps prevent or minimise hair shedding while supporting overall health during weight loss.

With Dr Victoria’s experience, patients receive personalised medical advice to stay safe, minimise side effects, and optimise results throughout their treatment.

All our prices include a monthly face-to-face review, 4 week supply of the pen, sharps box, and remote support as needed. The cost of the initial consultation is deducted from your first treatment. There are no extra or hidden fees for consultations or reviews, or if you need to ask us a question.

Research indicates that treatment with Mounjaro can lead to weight loss of up to 22.5% over 18 months. For example, someone starting at 130 kg could potentially lose around 29 kg.

Similarly, studies on Wegovy have shown that patients may experience up to 17% weight loss over approximately 68 weeks.

As with most medications, you can not use these if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or actively trying to conceive. You should use contraception during treatment and avoid pregnancy for 2 months after stopping treatment. Treatment can reduce the effectiveness of the oral contraceptive and morning after pills so you must use another alternative contraception to avoid pregnancy.
