FAQs

Dermal filler treatment is both an aesthetic and medical procedure. As a doctor, Dr Victoria has advanced medical training and is able to fully assess facial anatomy, ageing patterns, and risk factors. Importantly, a doctor can recognise, diagnose, and manage complications, prescribe medications such as antibiotics if needed, and carry emergency medications that are not available to non-prescribing practitioners.

Serious complications such as vascular occlusion are rare, especially when treatment is performed by an experienced medical practitioner. However, patient safety is always the priority. Dr Victoria carries hyaluronidase, a reversal agent that can dissolve hyaluronic acid filler in the unlikely event of an emergency, and is trained to act promptly should any concerns arise. When you choose an aesthetic doctor for your treatments, you are also choosing them to look after you should any side effect occur or should you have a query that needs follow-up.

We naturally lose approximately 1–3ml of facial volume per decade as part of the ageing process. This means that noticeable changes often reflect cumulative volume loss rather than an issue in one small area. For many patients, achieving balanced, natural results requires a full-face, strategic approach, of filler placed gradually and artistically over time. We will devise a treatment plan together in clinic taking account of patient’s goals and budget.

Not when it is placed correctly. Using multiple millilitres does not mean creating volume in one area. Instead, filler is carefully distributed across different parts of the face to restore structure, support, and harmony. The aim is subtle rejuvenation- people noticing that you look well, not knowing why.

Dermal filler typically lasts between 6 and 18 months, depending on several factors, including the area treated, the type of filler used, your metabolism, and lifestyle factors.

Fillers placed in areas that move more, such as the lips, tend to break down more quickly, while fillers used to support deeper facial structures (such as the cheeks or jawline) often last longer.

It’s also important to understand that filler gradually dissolves over time rather than disappearing suddenly. Many patients choose to have small, maintenance treatments to keep results looking natural and balanced, rather than waiting for all volume to be lost.

During your consultation, Dr Victoria will advise you on what to expect based on your individual treatment plan and goals.
